Flipkart propels into action Scheduled Delivery Service

Flipkart, in a little while after having red – carpeted its First annual subscription service aimed at frequent shoppers, has now launched a fresh service dubbed Scheduled Delivery.

The new service from its barrio, to begin with, will be available in the cities reading in the order as Bangalore, followed by Delhi, Mumbai, in addition to Kolkata, with Flipkart informing that Scheduled Delivery will cleave its foray into other cities soon.

This new supply-chain feature from its part will allow patrons to cherry-pick a specific date as well as time for delivery of their Flipkart order. The popular online retailer notes that customers currently can choose delivery slots starting as early as the next day.

Flipkart asserts that the Scheduled Delivery feature is presently not available with contemporary e-commerce websites in India. Especially, the new supply-chain feature will be at the outset available for the large appliances category and will be progressively stretched to other exclusive categories. The Scheduled Delivery is at present free of cost for Flipkart regulars.

Into the bargain, the online retailer supplemented that it will soon be bringing together installation along with delivery in the course of the pre-selected slots keeping customer necessities for large appliances category.

Speaking on the Scheduled Delivery announcement, Rahul Chari VP, Supply Chain Engineering at Flipkart held that, “Scheduled Delivery as a feature, serves to enhance the online shopping experience, especially in metros where time constraints are a huge bottleneck for customers. While this is especially true of large appliances – we intend to extend this benefit to other categories soon.”

Flipkart on Wednesday declared its annual subscription service with a subscription fee amounting to Rs. 500 per year. On the other hand, the 75,000 customers from the lucky draw announced in May avail the subscription free of cost till September 10.

Particularly, the Flipkart First service is comparable to the Amazon Prime premium subscription service in the US, and it will be interesting to see if this trend torqued in the retailing scene powers Amazon to bring Prime en route for India.

And for those unaware, Flipkart from its end had familiarized In-a-Day Guarantee Delivery shipping in select cities across the country in December last year, and in April, Flipkart unveiled a ‘Same-day Guarantee’ delivery service in that of select cities.
