STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor frontrunner, today announced that its STiH273 (Palma) HD cable chipset has been cherry – picked courtesy; DEN Networks, a leading Indian Cable MSO (multi-system operator) braced with over 6 million subscribers.

The STiH273 (Palma) incorporates a field-proven and widely arrayed Digital Video Broadcast-Cable (DVB-C) demodulator that has been augmented to work with high-performance external Controller Area Networks (CANs) as well as silicon tuners to be able to meet the stringent RF-performance necessities of the Indian Cable networks.

The STiH273 (Palma) also makes available high-quality Faroudja video, followed by 3DTV support, connectivity, and advanced security schemes together with all the contemporary Conditional Access System (CAS) support, counting NSK2.

For the duration of fiscal 2014, India is projected to complete its TV digitization plan, as defined by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Consequently, TV subscribers will purchase a supplementary 75 million set-top boxes (STBs) during fiscal 2014 alone, according to the predictions by the Government of India.
