Moreover, the first product in this segment will be a Set-Top box with a WiFi router. This Set-Top box will enable transform your present TV into a Smart TV and will allow the user to surf the internet on the television screen.
Speaking about this innovative step, Indrajit Sabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics, said “We are looking for at least a 10 per cent market share in Set-Top Box business in INDIA which will add minimum of Rs. 500 crores to Simmtronics revenue in 2015. Simmtronics plans to grow this business to very large volumes and intends to get a 25% market share in the next 2 years. One of the main hindrances which come in the way of the process of digitisation is the storage of Set-Top boxes. The step taken up by Simmtronics will speed up the process of digitisation because as per the Government, the process of TV digitisation should be completed by the end of the year. Along with this, the company is also planning to come out with the lowest priced Set-Top box. Presently, the company is supplying Set-Top boxes to OEMs in India.
