Intel appoints Amir Faintuch as the senior vice president

Intel

Intel has appointed Amir Faintuch as the senior vice president and co-general manager for the Platform Engineering Group. Prior to joining Intel he has been associated with Qualcomm as a president. As part of Qualcomm he was handling networking and connectivity businesses. Commenting about the appointment, Intel’s spokesperson said, “We want to accelerate our success rate with SoCs and get the designs aligned and the roadmaps aligned to do that. We’ve made good progress but there’s more to be done. Amir has extensive management experience and a strong resume.

The news of the appointment of Faintuch was made official through an e-mail to all the Intel employees. With this move the company wants to focus and accelerate its growth in the mobile gadgets segment.  The company aims to garner more sales with this move in both the PC and the mobile segment.

This is not the first time that the chip manufacturers are eyeing on the employees of each other. Earlier in 2012, a senior executive Anand Chandrasekher, a 25-year Intel veteran, jumped over to Qualcomm to become the San Diego Company’s chief marketing officer.
